backstreet's back

Fall is here and I couldn't be happier!! The weather is finally starting to cool down, and I have never been happier to be able to wear jeans again without sweating a puddle. I spent, what I considered to be, the first day of autumn at my friend's house for yet another Board Game Day. Although lately, it's less board games, and more Cards Against Humanity. Who can complain though, the game is extremely fun and hilarious, and the hours flew by whilst we played it. Finally, when it seemed that it was getting later, I took some pics quickly, and then went to Neighbour's for an early dinner with my friends, Jessica and Marian. The vegetarian deluxe pizza was so bomb, oh god I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Before the night ended, I watched the first episode of Season 2 of Sherlock, as well as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for the second time. While both were extremely great to watch, I really should stop late-night binge eating/watching.

There's just something about double denim. Yes, there is a very fine line between trendy and looking like a Backstreet Boy, but I feel like how good well-done double denim is, is worth the risk. So, I thought, what better way to ring in the cold weather than with classic denim on denim? I wore my favourite jeans that go with absolutely everything (not to mention are comfy as heck). I paired it with a simple denim shirt that took me forever to find, since nowadays almost every single button down has some sort of design or stud added to it. For a pop of colour, I grabbed my bright red bag, and I wore my usual jewelry. Lastly, since I knew I wasn't going to be doing much that day, I wore my basic Vans, giving my feet a nice break from the heels I usually wear.

I love how bright this bag is. Usually, I'm a bit conscious and scared to wear such bold colours, but because of it's size and structure, I truly feel like this is such a perfect bag to add "oomph" to an otherwise plain outfit.

Just a quick picture I took while in the middle of our Cards Against Humanity game. Please don't mind the bad quality. Despite what it looks like, we actually had a lot of fun.

Fun fact: everytime Jessica (pictured here) types my name onto her phone, it autocorrects my name into all-caps. I feel like that is an extremely accurate depiction of our friendship.

The pizza at Neighbour's with Jessica and Marian! Oh god I could really go for some pizza right now.

If you had a pizza but didn't take a picture with it, did you really have a pizza?

paisley appeal

I always feel like seizing the day on weekends, even if it's the holidays. This is especially true on Sundays as everything closes much earlier, so to make the most of the day, I try to start it early. Now, I admit this doesn't usually work out for me as I love to sleep, but fortunately yesterday I was able to force myself out of bed to have a nice brunch with my parents at iHop. Once I returned (and napped for a while), I went out to Metrotown with my friend to do a little bit of retail therapy. I lost one of my all-time favourite albums recently, The Suburbs by Arcade Fire, and decided to re-buy it at HMV as it was on sale. I also got myself the cutest little tea mug with doves on it that changes colour along with the heat. We shot these pics once we returned to my house, and decided to wind down with some tea (using the mug I just bought) and some good ol' television.

It was unbelievably hot outside, despite the fact that in my mind it's already fall. Boo. I made the most of the warm weather by wearing a classic denim shirt, and some printed shorts, both of which I got from Forever 21. I wanted to try something new, something I've seen one of my favourite youtubers, Jenn Im (clothesencounters), do, which is tuck in one side of my button-down and keep the other one out. Whether or not I succeeded, I don't know, but oh well. I topped off the outfit with a small blue bag (it's way too warm for large purses), and my Madewell sandals. I'm not exactly gifted in the height department so heels on any type of shoes are perfect for me.

I've been looking for a small, simple necklace I can pair with absolutely anything for the longest time. Words can't explain how ecstatic I was when I found this gem at Topshop.

I usually don't wear my glasses all-day, everyday, but when I do it's like my eyes have gone from 360p to 1080p. I can't see far that well, so I usually only wear my glasses in class, or at the theatre, but yesterday, my friend, who usually wears glasses, decided to wear her contacts, and just for fun, I decided to wear my glasses so we could be opposites. Cool? Not so much, I know. But at least now I can see people's faces without squinting.

Fun fact: the first two times I wore these shoes I walked around Manhattan all day in them and I got terrible blisters on the back of my feet. Thankfully, I've finally broken them in, but I still haven't learned my lesson: I still wear uncomfortable shoes all day if they're cute

feelin' the blues

One of my favourite bloggers of all-time (tuulavintage) taught me one thing that has forever changed my style: rompers and jumpsuits are life. For someone that is quite indecisive and lazy, being able to throw one of those on and call it an outfit has not only saved me time, but also saved me from a lot of unnecessary stress. Anyways, the day started off with plans to go on a nature walk, but soon became late lunch in front of Science World because of laziness. With the weather in Vancouver being warm (which sucks for me since I love the cold), we decided to end the day off at La Casa Gelato, an ice cream place with 218 flavours! There truly is nothing better than Pina Colada and Rum Raisin ice cream.

I absolutely love pairing together either: a) monochrome outfits or b) outfits with the same colour palette. I started off with this navy blue romper (which I have worn to death despite only getting it two or three weeks ago) and decided to throw on my denim jacket, since it was just a casual day. My love for denim is eternal.

I absolutely love jewelry (what else is new), and while I may sometimes go a bit overboard with the layering, that is perfectly fine in my book. I paired two necklaces involving gem stones together, and of course wore my three classic rings (aka the rings I wear on an almost-daily basis), as well as my American Apparel watch.

Ever since I got my Kate Spade bag it has been attached to my arm on an almost-daily basis. Me and the bag are officially one. I've worn these sandals to death; from hiking to the beach, and all around New York, these sandals have been with me through anything and everything (please mind my feet as I'll probably post a better picture with those sandals on another time).
