checkmate

It feels like it's been centuries since I last updated this blog, when in reality it's been just one really rollercoaster week. But nevertheless, I am back! And with Halloween coming up, the blog posts are bound to keep on coming.

denim daze

Having a chem, physics, and pre-cal test all in the span of two days is just the same as having three different math tests. Nonetheless, I got through it with a lot of late nights studying (ok, well more like panicking and listening to Taylor Swift), and answered prayers for an easy test. With a pro-d on Friday, I can feel my excitement build as the weekend approaches.

NOTE: It was my friend, Angelyn's, first time shooting for me today. Good job, Angelyn. This shout out is for you. Because you asked me to.

I will be 100% honest, this look is inspired by feralcreature, aka Eugenie Grey (she is stunning and everything about her is flawless - fact). With a little bit of changes here and there, I decided to recreate this adorable denim on denim look, starting with pairing my chambray shirt and light blue skinnies. I went for the thickest cardigan I had, and went minimal with the accessories. Lastly, a look is incomplete without a nice pair of heels, so of course, I just had to wear my Chelsea boots.

Close up on double denim and super cozy sweater, woohoo.

The most annoying part of this look is probably the chambray shirt. It will just never stay perfectly tucked in! Sigh, oh well, struggles. At least the overall look isn't too bad.

toughen up

As I write this, I simultaneously reminisce on Saturday and how great it was, as well as slowly die over my mountain of homework (no matter how hard I try, I just can't get myself to start working on my Chem lab). Yesterday I went to go see a brief NYU info session downtown with my friend (it doesn't hurt to think about the future, though I tend to do that too often), and then quickly shot pics before she had to go study. I met up with my other friend after, to visit a friend working at McDonald's, and then grab some bubble tea. Aah, procrastination.

I have worn my leather jacket for three days straight now, and I have no regrets. I wanted to dress polished but not too done up for a day Downtown, so I started with my white collared shirt that I haven't worn in ages. I tucked it into a simple pair of skinny jeans, and went with my classic ankle boots. Lastly, I had to wear the jacket again, to give the look the edge it needed.

The studs on the shirt are just oh-so adorable! I first bought this shirt for a Halloween costume to look like a vintage girl, but this just ended up being a part of my regular wardrobe. I just can't get enough of Peter Pan collars.

Wow leather! Badly painted nails! Frizzy hair! Much wow!

I just realized how blue my jeans look in this picture. Oh my.

Ankle boots will be the death of my feet. I'm perfectly okay with that.

bold black

It was Thursday, and to say that my patience for waiting for the weekend was wearing thin, would be an understatement. To recap the end of my schoolweek, it went a little like this: notes, work, yawn, eat, work some more. OH, I also occasionally fell asleep in class, and had Starbucks delivered to me (I love my friends), as well as had friends take pictures of me asleep (I hate my friends). Oh, how I can't wait for the weekend.

Over 50% of all my favourite outfits are either a) monochrome, or b) all black, so it's not very surprising that my wardrobe choices often lack colour. Although, what I lack in brightness, I try to make up for with patterns and textures! I wore a simple collared sweater, with pearls for the collar, that really reminds me of vintage clothing (I simply adore it). Underneath, I picked out a simple floral skirt, and went for sheer tights and black ankle boots (I had black and white polka dot socks peeking out for just a little pop!). Lastly, an outfit is not complete without a cute jacket in my opinion, so I went for my classic leather jacket to give the looks the edge it needs.

Close-up of the pearls on my collar! Like mentioned, I just love the sweater since it reminds me of the 50's/60's, sort of like the Breakfast at Tiffany's look. Don't know quite how to explain it, but I just simply feel much more put together with the pearls, instead of just a simple white collar.

My leather and I are now one, we will never be apart. PS, my nails are super chipped, oops.

Black on black on black on sheer black.

As soon as fall comes around, my love for patterned socks always hits me like a train. They are just so cozy and festive, and even the smallest and simplest of patterns make an outfit just so much more... fall?? Basically, this little blurb is to say that a) these socks made my life, and b) the closer it is to Christmas, the more I will wear cute socks.

crystallize

A stressful week calls for a nice, relaxing break. Wednesday, while I had relaxing classes, was the first of many excruciating theatre rehearsals, especially since this year's play is more focused on songs than acting (something I did not get warned about and did not sign up for). Thankfully, this week is a short one for me (Monday was a holiday), and I got to end off the night by going to the gym, then watching American Horror Story. Not bad at all.

Once I put this outfit on, I had to make a pact to myself to not pee until I returned home. I'd been dying to do some major layering this fall, and while this isn't much, it's a start. I wanted to bring my favourite summer romper into the fall, so I paired it with (somewhat) opaque black tights, and a cute grey sweater with a crystal collar. I went minimal with jewelry, and of course, no outfit would be complete without my signature black booties.

Close-up of my romper peeking out of my sweater! It's somewhat hard to see but I absolutely adore the crystals on this sweater. It amps up any outfit, and just looks so elegant and classic.

Close-up of layering, woohoo. There's just something about the shorts peeking out from underneath that I adore. Possibly more than if I had layered using a dress.

Not focused, but I couldn't resist. To say that these shoes are my life would be an understatement. They kill my feet, but it's like they're a part of me.
